Description

The first wine made by Esporão in 1985. Our classic Alentejo wine, obtained solely from our own grapes, produced organically. The diversity of Herdade do Esporão, together with the different characteristics of the grape varieties, soils, vine maturity and the people who make this wine consistently over the years, results in a rich, intense but always harmonious wine. Label illustrated by Alexandre Conefrey.

WINEMAKING / AGING

Separate harvest of each grape variety, destemming, crushing, alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats, concrete vats and small marble lagares, with controlled temperatures, pressing, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats.

12 months in American and French oak barrels, new (20%) and used (80%). After bottling, at least a further 6 months of bottle aging followed.

COLOR: Intense ruby.

AROMA: Forest fruits, with nuances of blackberry and ripe plum, complemented by spicy notes of cinnamon and licorice.

PALATE: Rich and elegant, dominated by notes of wild berries and sweet spices, in a harmonious and fresh whole. Persistent and balanced finish.
