H.O Reserva Tinto

HO RESERVA RED 2018 is the result of the combination of plots of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão varieties, with plots of Old Vineyards from HO. With a predominance of East/South solar exposure and schist soils, the different plots are located at altitudes ranging from 250 to 350m. The Vinha Velha plots feature around 25 mixed grape varieties and are approximately 110 years old, resulting in a wine rich in complexity.

Winemaking After manual harvesting, the grapes are transported in 18 kg capacity boxes so as not to damage the integrity of the bunch. Once in the winery, the boxes are unloaded onto a sorting conveyor belt for the first sorting of the grapes. This was followed by destemming, berry-by-berry selection and crushing of the berries, which were then transported by gravity to stainless steel fermentation tanks. After 48 hours of pre-fermentation maceration at low temperatures, alcoholic fermentation took place over 10 days where, depending on the variety and the plot, a pumping over and delestage protocol was carried out. After malolactic fermentation, the different components aged in 225 L oak barrels for 18 months. After bottling, the wine aged for a further 12 months in the bottle.

Tasting Notes HO RESERVA TINTO 2018 is a ruby-colored wine with deep intensity. The aroma presents notes of ripe black fruit, woody balsamic nuances characteristic of the HO terroir, in perfect harmony with the spicy and complex notes of the Old Vines. In the mouth, it presents structuring tannins balanced by the natural freshness of the wine and in harmony with the notes of barrel aging.
