The 2021 vintage year was characterized by fluctuations in temperature and rainfall, leading to it being described as a hot and dry year. The high rainfall recorded during the first harvest resulted in a high incidence of fungal diseases, requiring rigorous monitoring of each grape variety and plot. However, the summer proved to be quite hot and dry, leading to faster ripening and resulting in wines of great concentration.
VINIFICATION After manual harvesting, the grapes were transported to the winery in boxes with a maximum capacity of 18 kg, thus preserving their integrity and quality. The different plots of the Touriga Franca variety were harvested according to their ripeness. Subsequently, the grapes passed through a sorting table, undergoing destemming and crushing, and were moved by gravity to stainless steel fermentation tanks. Pre-fermentation maceration was carried out at low temperatures ranging from 24 to 48 hours, followed by alcoholic fermentation at temperatures between 25-27ºC. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine was transferred to 225L oak barrels.
TASTING NOTES: MENIN Tinta Roriz 2020 is a wine with a very harmonious profile, where notes of wild red fruit (red currants, red plum), black cherry, forest fruits, and spices from barrel aging enhance the overall complexity. On the palate, it stands out as a wine with extreme finesse, which is not usually found among its peers.
