Menin Touriga Nacional

VINTAGE YEAR The 2021 vintage year was characterized by temperature and rainfall fluctuations, leading to it being described as a hot and dry year. The high rainfall recorded during the first harvest period resulted in a high pressure of fungal diseases, requiring rigorous monitoring of each grape variety and plot. However, the summer proved to be quite hot and dry, leading to faster ripening and resulting in wines of great concentration.

VINIFICATION After manual harvesting, the grapes were transported to the winery in boxes with a maximum capacity of 18 kg, thus preserving their integrity and quality. The different plots of the Touriga Franca variety were harvested according to their ripeness. Subsequently, the grapes passed through a sorting table, undergoing destemming and crushing, and were moved by gravity to stainless steel fermentation tanks. Pre-fermentation maceration was carried out at low temperatures ranging from 24 to 48 hours, followed by alcoholic fermentation at temperatures between 25-27ºC. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine was transferred to 225L oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES: MENIN Touriga Nacional 2020 is a rich and complex wine, with a good balance between its fruity character, where notes of black and red fruits stand out, and the floral character typical of the grape variety, violet and Earl Grey. Powerful and voluminous tannins find finesse through the balanced acidity of the whole.
