Side Dishes: Goes well with chocolate desserts, especially dark chocolate. Cheddar cheese, Gouda and Brie. Spicy dishes with red meat or lamb and veal “bichos bravos” or Pimenta Steak.

Description

Vinification:
This crust comes from Vinha da Pisca and small plots of Soutelo and Vale do Pinhão. The grapes were trodden in round vats in Vale de Mendiz and the wine was later aged in vats in our cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Production was small, with a total of 7000 litres, bottled in December.

Tasting Notes: With a fantastic red and brick color on the board, it has an excellent nose of wild berries and dark chocolate. It's a blend of great years, with 2010 contributing great elegance and depth and the warmer years 2009 and 2011 providing a full, grainy character on the palate.

Advice for storing and serving: The bottle should be in an upright position, at a constant temperature and away from intense direct light. Once opened, consume preferably within 18 to 20 weeks. Port wine is a natural wine, so it can form some natural sediment over time. Pour carefully so as not to get cloudy.
