Niepoort Diálogo Tinto

VINIFICATION: The 2020 viticultural year was characterized by its heterogeneity, a rainy winter followed by a very moderate spring meant that the vine developed quite well, ending with a very cool June, which delayed this vegetative development. The month of July was austere, quite hot, the hottest since 1931, with 3 periods of heat waves, causing scorching losses in the vines. The harvest began in the first weeks of August in the hottest areas and ended at the highest levels at the end of September. In general, 2020 was a good year for red wines with a fuller profile, with plenty of color and tannins. After being transported to Quinta de Nápoles, the grapes were carefully destemmed into a stainless steel vat where they fermented at a controlled temperature for about a week. A part of the lot ages in French oak barrels while the rest stays in stainless steel for about 6 months.

TASTING NOTES: The color is beautiful, intense and with violet hints when shaken in the glass. On the nose it has floral notes, of red fruits, with hints of mint that give it complexity and freshness. In the mouth it is round, elegant and with a persistent acidity. It is an uncomplicated Douro red. A wine that shows its origin, the richness of the grape varieties, in an elegant and fresh interpretation, easy to drink and enjoy.
