Quinta das Carvalhas Reserva represents the most classic and original style of this Quinta, encompassing its various aspects.

The ambition is to portray the Quinta through its history and tradition within the Douro DOC landscape, by the hand of Pedro Silva Reis and his Fine [company/organization].

Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery in 20kg boxes. After undergoing careful manual selection, the bunches from old vine plots are destemmed and placed in granite lagares (traditional stone troughs), where alcoholic fermentation follows with the traditional foot treading. The Touriga Nacional grape bunches are destemmed, and the grapes are lightly crushed before being transferred to fermentation vats. Alcoholic fermentation of the must follows at a controlled temperature between 24-26°C. The wine then ages in new (20%) and used (80%) French oak barrels for a period of 12 months until bottling.
