Quinta das Marias Barricas

Due to the good result obtained in the previous year, we decided to keep the same batch of grapes to prepare the 2017 harvest, also maintaining Encruzado as the majority grape variety. We emphasize that as this is a “Premium” wine, we favored fermentation in barrels, but reduced the months of aging and contact with the fine lees.

We are very pleased with the result, as we achieved the desired balance between fruit, acidity and mouth volume.

Vinification: Manual harvest in 20 kg boxes, destemming and crushing of the grapes, followed by cooling of the masses and skin maceration for 24 hours. Fermentation in stainless steel vats up to 1,050 density, finishing fermentation in 225 L French oak barrels (2 new and 3 used). „Bâtonnage“ in barrels for 12 months.
