Quinta das Marias Touriga Nacional

The versatile variety could not fail to surprise us. From year to year we work on our plots to better understand them, and our 3 Touriga Nacional plots are no exception. In each harvest, Nature makes the last decision, as it is her stimuli that prevail. That's why the choice of plot that gives rise to this wine varies from year to year. In the 2016 harvest, the best grapes from the “Porto” plot were selected for their exposure and availability of water in the soil, which helped maturation to be long and regular, resulting in a good balance in the fruit, between acidity, color and tannins.

It is a very powerful version of Touriga-Nacional, where a good but discreet barrel is combined with a concentrated wine without being over-extracted.

Vinification: Manual harvest in 20 kg boxes, grapes destemming. Fermentation and maceration in a “Ganimede” vat. Malolactic fermentation in vat and aging for 20 months in French oak barrels. 30% are new barrels, the rest second wine.
