Marquis is a blend of wine selected to honor the Marquis of Soveral, born in São João da Pesqueira in 1851, at Quinta de Cidrô itself, then owned by the aristocratic Soveral family. The result of a rigorous selection of the best Sauvignon Blanc grapes, Marquis Branco stands as the top of the range at Quinta de Cidrô.

This fresh and very intense white wine, which so eloquently expresses the excellence of Cidrô wines, results from a careful selection of Sauvignon Blanc, one of the predominant white grape varieties on the estate. Conceived as an experiment, this white wine represents once again our continued desire to innovate. Every year, our winemaker selects a small and specific parcel of each white grape variety to age in 550L barrels, thus showing us the different approaches and virtues of Douro whites. This Sauvignon Blanc, among others, showed excellent character, which encouraged us to bottle it separately.

An unusual and innovative Douro Branco that reveals itself as a true top-of-the-range wine due to its enormous freshness, intensity, and aromatic complexity, where mineral aromas and notes of green pepper, grapefruit, and asparagus stand out with a hint of wood. On the palate, it reveals freshness and fruity flavors, where the mineral aspect is again present, finishing with a long and persistent aftertaste, crowned by a very fine and balanced acidity.
