TASTING NOTES: Deep garnet in color, it presents a complex and elegant aroma where earthy, mineral notes and hints of spice give it great personality. On the palate, it reveals great structure and freshness, with intense and silky tannins. A long and persistent finish promises good aging potential.
VINEYARD The grapes that gave rise to this wine come exclusively from the vineyards of Quinta de Pancas, located in Alenquer. The Touriga Nacional is from plot 1, the Cabernet Sauvignon from plot 6, and the Petit Verdot from plot 23. The vineyards are situated in a series of hills and valleys, protected by the Serra de Montejunto mountain range. The soils are neutral clay-limestone with a fine texture. The climate is Mediterranean with Atlantic influence.
VINIFICATION The grapes were vinified separately with a short cold maceration. They fermented at a controlled temperature of 28ºC for 8 days, with a daily regime of "deléstage" and manual remontage. Malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, except for Touriga Nacional which occurred in French oak barrels. The batches of these wines aged in French oak barrels for 22 months. The final blend was made after a qualitative selection, confirmed by numerous tastings. 2861 bottles were produced.
