Quinta Do Cardo – Vinha Do Lomedo Bio Síria

VINEYARD
The vineyards are located at an average altitude of 750 meters, in the middle of the Iberian plateau, protected by mountainous topography (Marofa and Castelo Rodrigo mountains). This wine was made from grapes sourced exclusively from our old vineyard in Syria, the Lomedo Vineyard, planted in the 1970s. The soils are granite in nature with a schist component. The climate, which is distinctly continental, has harsh winters and very hot, dry summers, where temperature variations can fluctuate by 20ºC throughout the day. This combination of factors results in wines with great aromatic exuberance and great freshness.
WINEMAKING
The grapes were harvested and selected by hand, transported to the winery where they were kept at low temperatures for 48 hours, after this period, they were pressed directly into French oak barrels. This wine fermented for 4 weeks and aged for 22 months, with regular “batonnage”. Naturally stabilized.
