WHICH HAS ALWAYS AGED IN HULL
Fine and elegant, a journey through time This is Tawny Port for the true connoisseur of Old Tawnies. While our Tawny 10, 20 and 40
years are blended wines, designed to maintain a consistent house style, Colheita takes on its personality from the year it was produced. Each Colheita is different even if it is always marked by the «terroir» of Quinta do Noval. These are very rare Port wines — and they are among the best of all wines from the Douro region — produced in very small quantities and unfairly little recognized. Quinta do Noval is one of the few Port Wine Houses
famous both for their Vintage Ports and Colheita Ports.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS HARVEST 2000
The first half of the year began with hot, dry weather and below average rainfall. As a result, sprouting was quite early. However, in the months of April and May, low temperatures and significant rainfall delayed the start of flowering and made this period longer. Vigorous vegetation growth during this period created difficult flowering conditions and significant crop growth. All this led us to expect very low yields, which
indeed turned out to be the case. After a spring with significant rainfall, which provided enough water to the soil, the rest of the summer brought a
hot and dry weather allowing maturation to reach its term in excellent conditions. The harvest began on the 15th of September and ended at the end of the month, making a total of 15 days with hot and dry weather, disturbed only by a few millimeters of rain on the 28th and 29th of September. Production was small. However, the year 2000 will certainly be remembered as one of the best quality years of the last decade. “With a deep Tawny color, Colheita 2000 shows a fine, dense and powerful aroma of dried fruits and spices. Rich
and complex with spicy notes, this wine is full-bodied with silky tannins and a long and tasty aftertaste.” António Agrellos, Technical Director


VINIFICATION
The grapes were crushed and fermented in the traditional
Quinta's mills, where intense and disciplined treading is
essential for a good final result. More
MATURATION
The legislation establishes a minimum period of aging
of 7 years in hull. At Quinta do Noval, Colheita wines are
marketed after 10 to 12 years of aging


DECANTATION
It is not necessary, as this filtered Port does not
it has sediment.
