Grand Gold Medal (Portuguese Wine Competition)

Intense and concentrated, with a fine tannin structure, it stands out for its delicacy, a characteristic of the Quinta do Noval style. It is the product of a rigorous selection from the best batches produced by our estate in a given year. This wine is delicious when young, but also ages well in the cellar.
An authentic wine from the Douro Valley.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HARVEST
Following a dry winter, the 2018 colheita was characterized by very low temperatures and high rainfall until mid-summer, followed by a hot and dry end to summer. Flowering began late, but under good conditions.
After a prolonged summer period, the high temperatures and limited water conditions were ideal for the richness of anthocyanins in the skins and for optimal ripening of the grapes.
At colheita time, the sanitary conditions were excellent.
The grape harvest took place between September 5th and October 13th, with favorable weather conditions, quite high temperatures, and no rainfall. The colheita produced high-quality wines with good levels of sugar, acidity, and phenolic compounds.
Overall, all the wines produced this year are very good.
truly excellent.

TEST NOTE
This wine has a deep, almost opaque color and an intense nose of wild berries, raspberry, and spices. It reveals mineral notes, well integrated with those of wood and dark chocolate. Very good tannins and finesse.

WINEMAKING
This wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks for 15 days, followed by malolactic fermentation.

AGING
The wine is aged entirely in barrels for 12 months, 50% in new 225-liter French oak barrels.
