Vineyards: This Douro wine is produced with grapes from a single vineyard at Quinta do Roncão, next to the Douro River. This vineyard is located at a low altitude facing east, making it perfect for an early harvest dedicated to this grape variety.
Tinta Francisca: Tinta Francisca is a grape variety very present in the old vineyards of the Douro, which fell into "oblivion" with the new plantings. The choice to plant this variety in the new vineyards of Roncão stemmed from the desire to experiment again with wines made from old Douro grape varieties. It has been a fascinating experience to discover the potential of this variety, to create a wine with a different style than usual, aromatically very attractive, with a medium structure, an elegant profile, but with great intensity.
Winemaking: 2020 was a fantastic year for the production of this wine in the Douro. This was the first year we bottled this grape variety. With the aim of making a different wine, using a traditional Douro grape variety, we opted for separate fermentation with minimal intervention. It was then stored in stainless steel tanks and bottled in 2021.
