History
Lovers of good wine, we find in the Douro Superior, amidst its legends and traditions, perfect conditions for the production of great wines. They are capable of awakening special pleasures and emotions when tasting them. Thus, we began our dream, acquiring two properties: Quinta do Sardoal and Quinta das Salgueiras, both in Torre de Moncorvo. It is from there that some of the region's main wines come.

The legend that inspires us
Legend has it that, in the early days of Lusitania, a young maiden fell head over heels in love with a high-ranking official of the Roman Empire. Not accepting the romance, the family took her beyond the Douro River. There, on the right bank, in the Upper Douro, she began to live among the vineyards, where she wandered, day and night, immersed in tears for her lover.

The maiden's tears, filled with desire and passion, impregnated the schist soil of the vineyards, creating a unique terroir for the production of wines that facilitate understanding between people and awaken love.

From there comes ÁVIDOS, our premium wine, ANÓNIMO, our best expression of the traditional red wine of the Douro, APAIXONADO, red, white and rosé, soft, charming and enveloping and AMÁVIO, which in old Portuguese means “elixir of love and seduction”. They are balanced wines, easy to drink, capable of awakening strong emotions.

Homage to the officer of the Roman Empire who lived his passion for the maiden.

An interesting fact about the 2015 harvest in the Douro Superior: this was the hottest year in the pre-harvest and harvest period. The result? More ripe and black fruits, which produced more concentrated wines.

It has an intense ruby color with aromas of black fruits and blueberries, well combined with toasted notes from aging in French oak barrels. In the mouth the tannins are present, but mature and well integrated into the structure of the wine, making it harmonious.
