Barroca da Malhada red wine is a blend of Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Trincadeira, and Touriga Nacional grapes, colheita manually and vinified artisanally, with spontaneous fermentation and minimal cellar intervention. Aging took place in various containers: stainless steel vats, first-use Portuguese oak barrels, third-use Portuguese chestnut barrels, and amphorae, contributing to the wine's complexity and depth.
It presents an intense ruby-violet color. The aroma reveals great richness and concentration, with a fusion of ripe black fruit, balsamic notes, and a subtle earthy undertone. On the palate, it is full-bodied and deep, with a marked structure and well-integrated tannins, faithfully reflecting the aromatic profile. An intense, powerful red wine with a gastronomic character, designed for the table and for more demanding dishes.
Barroca da Malhada is a producer of artisanal wines from the Beira Interior region, originating from a historic estate dating back to the Middle Ages and which belonged to the Viscounts of Tinalhas. With approximately five hectares of vineyards cultivated organically and using biodynamic practices, they work with schist-sandy soils of granitic origin, in one of the most mountainous territories of Portugal. The wines reflect a low-intervention approach, prioritizing authenticity, freshness, and expression of the place.
