Description

A complex and elaborate wine that mirrors Borges's over 130 years experience.

Borges Grande Reserve wines mirror the tradition and experience of over 130 years of history in the production of unique wines. The nobility of the lineage of this Borges Grande Reserve dates back to 1904, the year the founders acquire Quinta da Soalheira. The elegance of the old vineyards and the character of the new vineyards manifest themselves in a complex and striking personality, resulting from the careful selection of the best grapes that survive a demanding engaging, characterized by excellent sun exposure: essence of the name 'Soalheira'. Produced only in exceptional years, Borges Grande Reserve Douro Tinto 2015, reflects a year of excellent quality and great balance. The 2014-2015 wine year was characterized for a dry year in Quinta da Soalheira, with a cold winter and an abnormally hot spring, followed by a mild summer, with only a few peaks of registered temperature. The maturation of the grapes took place smoothly, and precipitation before the vintage came to help with their final quality, giving rise to wines with great color intensity, soft tannins, excellent levels of acidity and great longevity

Vinification:
Total degace of grapes followed by soft crushing. Part of the lot is initially vinified by the traditional method of pisa on foot, ending the stainless steel bowl fermentation, and the remaining batch is vinified only in stainless steel bowl. In both vinifications, a brief pre-fermentative maceration is performed, followed by a fermentation in a 6-8 day-filed controlled temperature 28-30 ºC with relatively frequent reassemblies. After alcoholic fermentation is made a period of maceration, after which the wine from the masses with which it fermented is separated, and finally the malo -fermentation is caused. All wine in French oak barrels for 30 months and 4 months in a bottle.
