At the beginning of the 19th century, one of the most interesting chapters in Portuguese wine history began with the launch of a wine that would become an icon, coveted, but which was always kept, by its own choice, out of the limelight.
Its creator, Alexandre de Almeida, imported the concept of combining luxury hotels with a wine cellar and its own wine, thus creating the rare and historic Buçaco wines, produced in the beautiful Bussaco Palace, in the mountains north of Coimbra.
These are wines that have not adopted modern trends and that evoke enormous aging potential, being able to remain in the bottle for decades.
