Bollinger House is a true legend, one of the biggest names in Champagne, founded in 1829. It is the official Champagne brand of the James Bond films and the official supplier to the British court by order of Queen Victoria. Since then, it has been the drink of choice for the main festivities of the English monarchy, including the wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981, for example.
A unique phenomenon, Vieilles Vignes Françaises is produced from grapes sourced from three small Grand Cru plots totaling less than 0.6 hectares: “Chaudes Terres”, “Clos St-Jacques” and “Croix Rouge”. These vines were unaffected by phylloxera, which destroyed all the Champagne vineyards at the end of the 19th century. The “Les Vieilles Vignes Françaises” vines miraculously escaped devastation and therefore were not re-grafted. They continue to be planted “en foule”, in the historical method of drowning, self-propagating and thus perpetuating what can be called the “spoils of the day” of the Champagne region.
