Chão da Portela Touriga Nacional

CHÃO DA PORTELA was the name chosen for our first wine, a red from the year 1996.

The criterion for choosing the name was simple: we wanted a name linked to the Agricultural Society we had just created and, obviously, to the family history. And so CHÃO DA PORTELA was born, the name of the first farm to be bought by the great-grandfather of the current generation in 1880. A small farm at altitude, with transitional soil and grapes of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinto Cão varieties. These grapes, in the first colheita years, before and after the Agricultural Society was established, allowed the brand to always place first or second in many prestigious national competitions.

The image of CHÃO DA PORTELA wines is, and always will be, a sober and conservative one, with classic labels and the simple lines of Burgundian bottles. A classic image in keeping with the elegance of the wine it names.
