Description

TASTING NOTES

Bright red in color, dense and opaque. Its aroma is complex, with emphasis on black fruit, Indian ink and spices that dominate the bouquet. In the mouth it is balanced, where it confirms fruit with nuances of smoke and spice. Smooth and fresh, elegant, with silky tannins and a complex and long finish.

VINEYARD

The grapes used to make this wine come exclusively from the vineyards of Quinta de Pancas, located in Alenquer. The vineyards are located in a sequence of hills and valleys, protected by the Serra de Montejunto. The climate is Mediterranean with Atlantic influence. The soils are neutral clayey-calcareous with a fine texture. This Syrah comes from parcels 8 and 23 of the property.

WINEMAKING

The grapes were harvested on the 1st and 2nd of September 2017 and were sent to the winery. The grapes were vinified with a short cold maceration with pumping over. They fermented at a controlled temperature of up to 28ºC, for 10 days, with a daily regime of “deléstage” and manual pumping over. Malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. The wine aged in barrels (50% new) for 15 months, followed by prolonged aging in the bottle.
