Malvasia is the sweetest of the Madeiras, and this one is intensely sweet, but also sour-lemon at the same time, with flavors of black nuts, molasses, and coffee.
Winemaking:
Aged in American oak barrels using the traditional 'Canteiro' method for 5 years. This includes a gentle warming of the wine in the attic of the Funchal cellars. Over the years, the wine is transferred from the intermediate floors to the upper floors and eventually to the ground floor, where it is cooler. After this gradual aging, the wine is clarified and filtered before bottling.
