Dows Fine Tawny

 Accurate amber color. Fabulous almond aroma with notes of honey, vanilla and crystallized orange peel, with tobacco nuances. Velvety mouth with fresh orange peel notes and a very long mouth.

Vinification:
Dow's ages some of his best Porto wines for many years at oak -tempered casks in his old cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. This prolonged time in barrel causes the wines to get soft almond and walnut aromas, losing the intense red color of youth but gaining immense delicacy, richness and deep intensity of flavor. The word 'harvesting' means 'harvesting', for the port this word is used to describe a single year wine that has aged in wood for a minimum period of 7 years. Many of the Dow's harvests available today have been aged much longer and Dow's has one of the best collected collections in existing barrels today. The family team of tasters regularly prove all the wines of Porto Tawny Old as they get older in the cellar. These wines are transfered two or three times a year and then returned to the original barrel. When tasters judge that wine has reached the state of perfect maturity, the port is carefully removed from the barrel and bottled. Due to the long and careful aging process, no collage or filtration occurs.
