This wine was created in 2001 with the intention of challenging the classic profile of great Alentejo wines. The Semillon grape variety has adapted very successfully over the years to the unique location where it was planted. The maturity of the vine, combined with its exposure and soil type, has revealed a raw material with high oenological potential, giving rise to this wine. Label by Abel Mota.
VINIFICATION / AGING
The grapes arrive at the winery in the morning, when the temperature is lower, and are placed in the pneumatic press. The pressing cycles are long at low pressures, allowing for gentle and careful extractions. The settling of the resulting must is shorter than usual, which contributes to the body and complexity of the wine. Fermentation takes place in 500-liter French oak barrels, in a cellar with a controlled temperature of 18ºC.
Approximately 6 months in French oak barrels, on the lees, accompanied by a periodic bâtonnage process. This manual process contributes to the stabilization of the wine, also increasing its creaminess and depth. After bottling, it ages for 6 months in our cellars, promoting the characteristic complexity of this wine.
COLOR: Crystalline appearance, straw color with greenish hues.
AROMA: Apricot and ripe lemon, accompanied by notes of white pepper and some fresh almond.
PALATE: Rich and exuberant, with emphasis on white-fleshed fruit and a hint of nutmeg. Long and elegant finish.
