Description
Description
It has a deep ruby color and a finely intense and harmonious bouquet, where red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry, black fruits (plum) and aromatic components (resin and tobacco) predominate. In the mouth this wine has a soft attack and shows a thin structure with integrated and high quality tannins, combined with a balanced acidity that gives it freshness. Red fruits are also in evidence, as are some spices. It has an elegant and harmonious finish.
Vinification:
It was produced with grapes of category A (the best quality in the region) of the vineyards of Casa Ferreirnha in Zona do Pinhão, highlighting Quinta do Caêdo and Quinta do Porto, but also of surrounding altitude zones. The grapes were harvested in the ideal maturity for this style of wine in order to preserve natural acidity. Hand -harvested curls were smoothly deceived and crushed, and later fermented in stainless steel vats, with reassembly and pelicular maceration, the controlled temperature of 28ºC. After maceration, the malolactic fermentation occurred. The selected wines remained in the Douro during the winter in stainless steel tanks. Subject to the traditionally low temperatures of the time and the region, the wines naturally clarified, before they were transfered and taken to Vila Nova de Gaia. The final mixture was based on a careful selection and numerous tastings.
