Winemaking:
Hand-picked at their ideal point of ripeness, the grapes are destemmed and vinified according to traditional Port methods. Fermentation takes place under controlled temperatures and is interrupted by the addition of grape alcohol when the winemaker is satisfied with the correct level of sweetness. Each grape variety has its own fermentation interruption point, determined by the intensity of the wine, richness of ripeness, and required degree of sweetness. The final balance between the body and bouquet of Port wine arises from the combination of the different characteristics of each grape variety used. The wine remains in the Douro Valley, where the winter cold helps to settle the lees. The following spring, after racking, it is transported to the Ferreira cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia and stored in oak barrels, where it ages for several years, acquiring the incomparable style of the Ferreira brand. During aging, the wines are monitored and tasted by the winemaking team, who blend them until the final blend is obtained, representing the characteristics and style of Ferreira Dry White Port. The selected wines are typically aged between 2 and 5 years, guaranteeing a rich and balanced wine.
