Menin D. Beatriz is the most special wine ever produced by Menin Douro Estates. It's a wine where the passion for a region is so great that it multiplies into more than fifty grape varieties united in a single sip. Made exclusively from old vines, it's the result of five years of constant and meticulous care, resulting in a wine of excellence that is only released in exceptional years.
Winemaking:
The grapes are transported in 20 kg boxes and preserved in a cold chamber to maintain aromatic freshness during pre-fermentation maceration. Sorting is done on a conveyor belt with whole bunches, followed by destemming and berry-by-berry selection on a second sorting belt. The berries are only crushed upon entering the vat, with the entire process operating by gravity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, and after malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to carefully selected new 225L French oak barrels. Aging in barrels lasts for 20 months. After bottling, the wine is aged for approximately 18 months.
Exam grade:
MDE D.Beatriz 2019 presents a bright ruby color with a slight depth. On the nose, we are surprised by the combination of notes of dried roses, forest fruits, black plum, cedar, and nutmeg. Enveloping, with very fine tannins, full of elegance and depth.
