VITICULTURAL YEAR The 2023 viticultural year was characterized by a warm and dry winter, and an abnormally warm and dry spring and summer. Reduced rainfall throughout most of the growing season contributed to the prevalence of fungal diseases in the vines. However, the high temperatures recorded in May, July, and August impacted the vines and grape ripening. The continued drought and very high temperatures during the ripening period necessitated early harvests, beginning on August 5th, which were slowed down by lower temperatures and rainfall in early September. These conditions were beneficial for quality and had little impact on quantity.
VINIFICATION After manual harvesting, the grapes are transported in 18 kg capacity boxes so as not to damage the integrity of the bunch. Once at the winery, the boxes are unloaded onto a sorting conveyor for the first sorting of the grapes. This is followed by destemming, berry-by-berry selection and crushing, which are then transported by gravity to a pneumatic press. After clarification of the must, alcoholic fermentation began in oak barrels at low temperatures of around 16ºC, in order to preserve all the varietal character of each grape variety. Alcoholic fermentation lasted approximately 20 days, after which the different components aged for 6 months with periodic bâtonnage.
TASTING NOTES: MENIN RESERVA BRANCO 2022 is a wine with a very fine and expressive nose, with notes of fresh mango, light tangerine, lavender and white pepper. Very elegant, fresh and mineral, but simultaneously full of fruit, with a slightly spicy and long finish. An extremely gastronomic wine, but also capable of beautiful moments on its own.
