17 points Grandes Escolhas Wine.
With an embellished amber color denoting aging in wood, this 10-year-old Tawny Port presents delicious aromas of dried fruit, caramelized nuances and spices, and also some notes of ripe fruit. The taste is rich and velvety, smooth and deliciously sweet.
Winemaking:
After the grapes are received and undergo quality control, they are destemmed and crushed. The crushed grapes are then placed in stainless steel fermentation tanks, where they macerate for a few days at a controlled temperature to extract the best constituents from the skins. At the ideal moment, fermentation is stopped with the addition of grape brandy, resulting in a naturally sweet wine. The wines with the greatest aging potential in wood are then selected and placed in very old oak barrels after their first winter. They remain in the wood for several years, gaining harmony and improving their bouquet. Subsequently, the winemaking team selects the wines that will form the final blend, using wines aged for more than 10 years.
