Description
INTRODUCTION:
Ruby Niepoort is fresh, young and fruity, with an aroma of cherries and other red fruits. An expressive Port full of character, Ruby keeps for several years, although aging does not improve the wine. It has no deposit and does not need to be decanted.
VINIFICATION:
Ruby Niepoort ages an average of three years. The grapes for Ruby Niepoort come from low-yielding old vines in the Cima Corgo region of the Douro Valley. It is vinified largely in wine presses, before aging in large wooden barrels in the Niepoort cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.
TEST RESULTS:
Dark red in color, with a fresh and vibrant aroma of dark fruits that lingers on the palate; almost mineral in character, it is a young wine with good extract and balance, ready to drink.
