Description
History: Quinta do Noval is located in the Douro Valley, north of Portugal
where port wine has been produced since 1715.
Traditional Port Wine, Noval is unique for the emphasis on its vineyard.
It is noteworthy that this is the same located in the Douro Valley that gives the
name to the company and that its main wines from Vintage Porto, Quinta do
Novaral Nacional and Quinta do Noval are “Vintage de Quinta”. The objective is
produce large vintage classics that are, besides, harmonious and
elegant expressions of the "terroir" of the Quinta do Noval. In NovaL, Vine is the
center of everything we do.
Caste: Malvasia Fina, Gouveio, Rabigato and Codega predominate between
traditional white castes of the Douro demarcated region.
Proof of grapes: grapes bought from our traditional
suppliers, from high areas of the Douro Demarcado region,
more favorable to white wines production.
Vineyard Age: Old Vineyards of Unknown Age
Driving System: Guyot (simple and double) and united and bilateral cord
Soil Type: Schist
Yeast used: vl 1 zymaflore
Fermentation method: 50 % with pelicular maceration and 50 % without
Melicular maceration, in closed stainless steel cups with temperature
controlled to 18th/20th.
Aging: 60% in Old Carvalho Wood, 40% in
stainless steel vats.
Age: Lot of wines with average 2 to 3 years.
