Pêra-Manca is the brand that Adega Cartuxa uses for exceptional wines.
It was first produced by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation in 1990.
Harvest/Winemaking: Produced from the Aragonez and Trincadeira grape varieties, carefully harvested and selected. The grapes come from select plots in vineyards over 30 years old, where ripening occurs gently, without excessive water stress, maintaining the aromatic potential and extract characteristic of the varieties. Upon reaching the ideal ripeness, the grapes are harvested and transported to the winery, where the technological process begins with total destemming, careful optical selection, and light crushing. Fermentation takes place in French oak vats with controlled temperature, followed by prolonged post-fermentation maceration.
Tasting notes - Flavor: Full-bodied, complex and elegant. Due to the high quality of the tannins and woods used, these wines have great longevity, requiring some time to reveal their full potential.
Aroma: Aroma of dried fruit and essences of the woods used for aging.
Aging: Eighteen months in French oak barrels, followed by bottle aging in the cellars of the Carthusian Monastery. This wine was not subjected to tartaric stabilization.
