Winemaking:
A Port made only in very exceptional years. Aged in oak barrels to mature, it is bottled, without any filtration, between the second and third year after the harvest. Vintage Port wines mature in the bottle for many years and gradually achieve the distinctive style of a great wine. The grapes are harvested manually and transported in 30 kg trays. Controlled fermentation with prolonged maceration, interrupted by the addition of grape brandy. It matures in wooden vats, rigorously controlled with successive tastings, until approval by the IVDP (Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto).
Exam notes:
Dark blue, but with a very ripe color. Coffee and cocoa on the nose. Medium-bodied. Sweet. Elegant, still with some tannin but quite ripe. Not a long runner, but an appealing finish.
