Description
Bastardo is a noble grape variety, despite its name suggesting something undesirable or controversial. It is mainly found in field blends from old vines in the Douro region, hence it is rarely vinified on its own. It is undoubtedly a demanding variety in the vineyard, but it produces wines of a light color that surprise us with their high expressiveness, delicacy, and great finesse.
Winemaking: Hand-harvested in 20-kilogram boxes, with whole bunches received directly at the lagar (wine press), without destemming. The bunches were crushed using the traditional foot-treading method. Alcoholic fermentation partially occurred in the lagar. After gentle pressing, alcoholic fermentation finished in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks.
