Description

It presents an attractive golden color with coppery nuances. Its intense aroma shows the character of a balanced maturation through oxidation: dried fruits, spices, and notes of dried fruit and marmalade. On the palate, it is a full-bodied, delicate, soft, velvety, and persistent wine. Despite its age, it presents a well-balanced freshness, a consequence of the refreshing with younger wines carried out throughout its maturation. It is a fine, elegant, and profoundly persistent wine.

Winemaking:
The selected grapes, harvested by hand, were vinified according to the traditional Port wine method. Controlled fermentation took place in stainless steel vats and was interrupted by the addition of wine alcohol. The resulting wines were very elegant and with great aging potential. The wines selected for the final blend of Ferreira Duque de Bragança 20 Year Old Tawny Port remain in the Douro after the harvest. They are taken to Vila Nova de Gaia the following spring and enter the traditional Port wine aging process in 640-liter oak casks. During their aging, the wines undergo numerous rackings, analyses, and tastings, making it possible to monitor their aging and intervene through blends, refreshments, and corrections whenever the tasting suggests it. The final blend is obtained from wines aged between 15 and 40 years, in order to always achieve the average age, type, quality and style of the Ferreira Duque de Bragança 20 Year Old Tawny Port.
