Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has come a long way, establishing itself as one of the most innovative wine producers in Portugal. The company's activity began with the production of wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. During the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal began its expansion, acquiring properties throughout the country and creating new paradigms for the production of quality wines.
Considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is a former property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famous Bacalhôa Palace constitute an artistic monument of the greatest importance to the country. Currently, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Berardo Foundation, owned by the family of the same name, whose patriarch is Commander José Berardo. On June 23, 1910, it was classified as a National Monument. In the area surrounding Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors will find picturesque villages, wineries, and one of the most beautiful and imposing landscapes in Portugal – the Arrábida Natural Park.
