Ruby red in color, with an aromatic intensity dominated by ripe blueberry and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is very elegant, full-bodied, persistent, and with rounded tannins.
The wine company Carregosa Vinhos, Lda., based in Balsa do Douro, municipality of Tabuaço, has been producing and marketing wines for four generations, possessing an authentic, modern and charismatic portfolio. Fernando Costa, a young winemaker and son of the owner Manuel da Costa, brings with him innovation, technical and scientific knowledge and the desire to continue the family legacy, thus projecting a future of excellence for Quinta da Carregosa.
Following careful selection and manual harvesting, the grapes undergo crushing and total destemming. This is followed by a 24-hour pre-fermentation maceration period at 30ºC to maximize the action of the enzymes responsible for color and aroma extraction. Selected yeasts are then used to induce alcoholic fermentation, which takes place between 22ºC and 24ºC for a minimum of 10 days. Malolactic fermentation is induced with temperature control.
