THE SUPREME EXPRESSION OF THE TERROIR OF QUINTA DO NOVAL
Vintage Quinta do Noval is characterized by its purity of fruit and a fine and delicate quality, which is typical of the property's wines in general, but which finds its most notable and lasting expression in the Vintage Ports. Balance, harmony, finesse and elegance characterize our Vintage Ports, which are only declared in excellent years (3 or 4 years in each decade) and only when the wines meet Noval's most demanding standards. Even so, the wines selected for Quinta do Noval Vintage Port represent only a small part of our total production.

HARVEST CONDITIONS IN 2013
The cool and humid spring preceded a hot and dry summer with practically no rain. This evolution of climatic conditions, strongly conditioned the evolution
of the vegetative cycle, resulting in a year of low production and a delay in maturation of around 10 days. We started the harvest on the 10th of September, with the grapes in a perfect state of health and maturation that produced extremely high quality musts. The wines that make up our Vintage 2013 were made from
grapes harvested in this initial period. Afterwards it rained between September 27th and October 3rd, which increased the moisture content to 80 or 90%, leading to favorable conditions for the emergence of gray rot, and we then had to accelerate the pace of the harvest to harvest the grapes in good condition. conditions. Good wines were made in this last period, but exceptional lots were produced in the first part of the
harvest.

VINIFICATION
The grapes are trodden by foot in the presses to obtain the must, and then macerated during fermentation to obtain the best possible extraction.
