Quinta dos Carvalhais Touriga Nacional

Vinification:
Warge vins in 20 kg boxes and selected upon arrival at the wine cellar, the national grapes were directly discharged to the trumpet. Grape juice was fed by gravity in small stainless steel vats, equipped with automatic reassembly, where alcoholic fermentation took place for about a week, at an average temperature of about 28ºC. They remained in post-fermentation maceration for another 20 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel vats, followed by a 12-month stage in new French grain oak barrels of 8 French tankers. Throughout the maturation process, numerous evidence was taken to follow the evolution of the wines after which the lot was prepared, glued, filtered and bottled.

TEST NOTES:
It has an intense red color. It presents a generous bouquet where the red fruits and floral notes stand out, highlighting the violet, so typical of this caste, refreshed by hot spices and supported by harmonious and integrated oak wood notes. In the mouth it has a surprisingly fresh attack and shows a thin acidity, with very round but alive tannins that culminates in a balanced and elegant ending.

Storage advice and serve:
Like all the good reds of Dão, this wine has a long term of validity and remains in great consumer conditions for over 10 years. The bottle should be kept horizontally in a cool, dry place. After bottle aging it is natural that deposit occurs, so decantation is recommended. Serve between 16ºC-18ºC. Once opened, it should be drunk on the day, although it remains in good condition for a while as long as the bottle is well working.
