Description

Reviews and awards:
18.5 points Grandes Escolhas Wine.

Deep purple color, almost opaque. Intense and powerful aroma of cherry and raspberry, plum and blueberries, notes of spices reminiscent of pepper and nutmeg, and hints of resin and cedar wood. It has a taut structure, excellent firm tannins, good balancing acidity, and aromas of red fruits and spices. The finish is long, with a lot of personality.

Winemaking:
Sandeman Porto Vintage Quinta do Seixo is produced at the Quinta do Seixo winery from grapes from different sections of the estate's vineyards. After gentle crushing and partial destemming, a very intense maceration followed during the alcoholic fermentation period. Maceration was carried out by foot treading in traditional granite lagares (shallow fermentation troughs). After the harvest, the wine remained in the Douro Valley. It was transported to Vila Nova de Gaia the following spring to embark on the traditional Port wine aging process in oak vats. Its development during the first two years was carefully monitored under the watchful eye of the winemaker. Given its character, quality and history, this wine was clarified and filtered. Over time, it will release a natural sediment in the bottle.
