Description
Formerly known as Quinta da Teixeira or Quinta da Teixeira Velha, Quinta das Tecedeiras owes its current name to the nuns who lived there and dedicated themselves to weaving linen, which was cultivated there in the past.
At the end of the 19th century, with the death of the vines caused by phylloxera, the Quinta survived thanks to the production of olive oil and fruit. Years later, the vineyard was reconverted, but with the care to maintain some old plots, a legacy that it offers today to oenology, with the production of wines from old vines.
With its schistous soils, hot summers and harsh winters, protected from the wind by the surrounding mountain ranges, this is a terroir A dream for any winemaker who aspires to produce good Douro wines.
