Description
Aromas of red and wild berries, with a hint of toast, reminiscent of the barrels in which the wine aged. A very fresh wine, with notes of spice and a persistent finish reminiscent of red berries. Completed by a calming vegetal flavor.
Winemaking:
These grapes originate from an old vineyard, over 100 years old, planted with 34 different grape varieties. The "Vinha da Coroa" (Crown Vineyard) is situated in one of the highest points of Quinta do Vallado, like a crown above all the other vineyards. Hence its name, "Coroa" (Crown). The grapes ferment for 14 days in stainless steel vats, 50% of them with stems, and without crushing. After a 14-day fermentation period with very little extraction, the wine aged for approximately 18 months in second-year French oak barrels.
