Description
Description
The "first" White Harvest of Vieira de Sousa of 2003. A very special port that has aged in separate barrels for all these years. Produced with grapes from green vines of the Celeirós area. There are vineyards at 500 meters of altitude with mixture of castes. These vats no longer exist, as they have been restructured in recent years, which makes Port wine even more interesting and special. It's a testament to the past and you feel the maelstrom of history.
Tasting notes: It is an incredibly delicate wine, delicate, full of complexity and with a history to enjoy. Beautiful oxidized orange-golden color, the result of aging in wooden barrels, which is accompanied by fullness and a long and crunchy acidity in the mouth. It has a base characterized by honey, light apricots, pickled fruits and prunes. It is immediately sweeter than we usually see in the house, however, it is beautifully balanced with the usual touch of acidity at the end of the mouth. It's a VERY luxurious welcome drink, but it can also be used in almost all desserts and cheese boards. Serve in a larger glass and let it open with time and temperature.
Manufacturing method: It is vinified in traditional granite vats, with traditional stepping and skin contact, as is known from painted grapes. This prolonged contact with the films is important for the complexity of the wine and for the ability to age in an oxidative environment-aging in barrels. After the addition of the Aguente, it begins its slow aging in smaller wooden barrels in the Douro cellars.
