Winemaking:
Grapes from a single colheita are vinified according to the traditional Port wine method. After partial destemming, the grapes are crushed in stone lagares (traditional stone troughs). Fermentation takes place under controlled temperature and is interrupted by the addition of brandy. Aged in large wooden vats, it can be bottled in the second or third year after the harvest.
Exam Notes
Intense, dark ruby color. Very intense, youthful, and fresh aroma, marked by notes of eucalyptus with hints of ripe black plum. Full-bodied and with excellent volume, revealing well-defined and firm tannins.
